The Conch Piercing
The Conch Piercing is a discrete piercing located in the bowl-shaped central shell of the ear. This piercing took its origins in African and Indian tribes. As initial jewellery and until the piercing is fully healed a barbell is more likely to be used to avoid trauma and complications.
The Conch Piercing due to its location in the ear is a difficult one to perform and a piercer must be skilled in order to perform a piercing in this specific area as there is blood vessels to avoid prior to performing the piercing. One more good reason to reach a professional, in The Black Hat Tattoo our amazing team of skilled piercers is up to everything that you might want and they are happy to welcome you to perform your next ear piercing in safe conditions.
A Conch Piercing takes 3 to 9 months to heal in normal conditions, don’t rush it as an unappropriate jewellery change or too soon could lead to infection. Avoid the use of a dirty phone that might lead to infections during the healing process. Make sure your phone is clean or use headphones as much as you can.
During the healing process while applying the aftercare process for any type of piercing, and after, it is important that you keep contact with your piercer and/or piercing studio. If you have any doubt or question, if you feel discomfort, irritation or any other symptoms that seems not to be a normal healing process, your piercer is the person skilled to help you during your healing process.
Check our aftercare recommendations, and do not hesitate to keep contact with our Tattoo shop in Dublin for any question.
