The Conch Piercing

The Conch Piercing is a discrete piercing located in the bowl-shaped central shell of the ear. This piercing originated in African and Indian tribes. As initial jewellery and until the piercing is fully healed, a barbell is more likely to be used to avoid trauma and any other complications.

Due to its location in the ear the Conch Piercing is a difficult one to perform and a piercer must be skilled to work in this specific area as there are blood vessels to avoid prior to performing the piercing. Another reason to use a professional! At The Black Hat Tattoo our amazing team of skilled piercers is up to everything that you might want. They are happy to welcome you to perform your next ear piercing in safe conditions.

A Conch Piercing takes between 3 to 9 months to heal in normal conditions. Don’t rush it as inappropriate jewellery change or doing it too soon might cause infection. To avoid infection, don't use a dirty phone during the healing process. Make sure your phone is clean or use headphones as much as you can.

During the healing process it is important that you stay in contact with your piercer and/or piercing studio. If you have any doubt or questions, or if you feel discomfort, irritation or any other symptoms that do not seem normal, your piercer is the person skilled to help you during your healing process.
